Removing items from cart programmatically

Using the following code, you can remove an item from the Magento cart by item id:

$cartHelper = Mage::helper('checkout/cart');
$cartItemId = 123;
$cartHelper->getCart()->removeItem($cartItemId)->save();

$cartHelper = Mage::helper('checkout/cart');

$cartItemId = 123;

$cartHelper->getCart()->removeItem($cartItemId)->save();
